There is only one cause of death, and that is Deity.
God uses whatever tools
might be at hand to ensconce us, whelm us, catch
us up, and remove
us from our present medium. And here are we imagining
that our current moorings
represent normality, as if high, wild, and gusty
vastness were alien to our natures,
as if that utmost staggering that is death were not
due us, as if transmigration
into gods, angels, demons, or giants were not our
birthright, our promised doom,
or our ecstatic and eucatastrophic conclusions.
